When to choose 600V vs 2000V PV wire

While 2000V is now the industry standard for new commercial and utility-scale installations, 600V PV wire remains the correct choice when replacing wire in an existing 600V-rated system, when an AHJ or equipment manufacturer specifies 600V, or for off-grid systems operating below the 600V threshold. Is 600V wire still code-compliant for new installations?
Yes, 600V UL4703 wire remains NEC-compliant. However, many utilities and AHJs now prefer or require 2000V for new builds. Check with your local Authority Having Jurisdiction before specifying.

Is this wire compatible with MC4 connectors?
Yes. Our 10 AWG copper PV wire is compatible with standard MC4 solar panel connectors, available separately in 50-pair bags.

Is this wire rated for direct burial?
Yes. UL4703-listed PV wire is rated for direct burial, conduit, and free-air installation per NEC Article 690 guidelines.
